What is a Shelter Home?
Interfaith Sanctuary’s Shelter Home is a 42,500 square foot building designed with one purpose: to make sure our guests have everything they need, all in one place. Meals, medical care, mental health and recovery support, workforce training, case management, and safe places to rest. It’s all here, wrapped around our guests morning, noon, and night.
Because we believe when people are safe and supported, hope can move forward. Families find stability again. Kids can focus in school. People get the care they deserve. And our whole community is better for it.
In our custom-built Shelter Home, everything our guests need exists under one roof — a full commercial kitchen, laundry rooms and showers open throughout the day, dedicated programming spaces, and a passionate team wrapping them in support morning, noon, and night.
We believe families should be able to stay together. Our Shelter Home has dedicated private suites for families with children so there's no more impossible choice between staying together and finding shelter. We have an early education classroom, teen lounge, family library, and an outdoor play area where kids can just be kids.
Hope House is our separate building for single adults who are ready for a place of their own and just waiting on their opportunity. We have 19 dedicated rooms for men and women who are financially stable and actively working toward permanent housing.
Single men and women have smaller dorm-style rooms for quieter, more dignified rest — no more warehouse sleeping arrangements. Dedicated classrooms support workforce training, recovery programming, and mental health. There's also a computer library, mailroom, laundry facilities, and a de-escalation room for moments when guests need calm and space. Outside, their own courtyard has lockers, bike storage, and a community garden.
Our medical dorm provides around-the-clock care for our guests who are too sick to be unsheltered but ineligible for inpatient care. We're able to offer direct intake from local hospitals and, when needed, provide end-of-life care with dignity.
We have a full commercial kitchen on-site, and Mercy Kitchen brings fresh, prepared meals to our dining room three times a day. No more food trailers and workarounds. Just a real meal at a real table. And because we have a commercial kitchen, we train our guests for jobs in food service right here.

We are committed to being a good neighbor. Here’s how we show up:
- Monthly neighborhood meetings, open to everyone — residents, renters, business owners, curious neighbors
- Regular coordination with Boise PD and city partners
- The Good Neighbors Committee — a group of actual neighbors who work side by side with us, keeping communication honest and ongoing
