A weekly letter from Jodi Peterson-Stigers, Executive Director
Sunday Ramblings
Notes from the kitchen table.
Honest, heartfelt reflections on homelessness, our Shelter Home and the community that holds it all together, written every Sunday with a cup of matcha tea and a few dogs close by.
How It All Started
Sunday Ramblings began after I read an opinion piece about homelessness that hit me hard and left me carrying more anger than I knew what to do with. I made a cup of matcha tea, opened my computer at the kitchen table, my dogs gathered around me, and began writing it all down.
Eventually, I posted that first rambling on Facebook, mostly because I needed somewhere for all of those thoughts to go. What I did not expect was the response. People commented, shared their own experiences, and reminded me that I was not alone in what I was thinking and feeling. In a strange and wonderful way, those comments felt like a warm hug. Suddenly, there was a whole community of people connecting through these complicated conversations and supporting one another along the way.
“Writing helps me process it, and sharing it helps me connect.”

What You’ll Find Each Sunday
Every rambling is different, but most of them come back to the things that matter most to us.
Life at the Shelter Home
Real moments with our guests, our staff and our neighbors. The hard days, the good days and everything we are learning as we go.
Honest Conversations
Reflections on homelessness, housing and the systems around them, written from the kitchen table to start a conversation, not end one.
Moments of Joy
The small, unplanned acts of kindness that remind us what community looks like when people show up for one another.
The Writing Crew
Every Sunday Rambling is written at the kitchen table with a cup of matcha tea and a few furry editors close by. They do not offer much feedback, but they never miss a Sunday.
Pull Up a Chair
Now, every Sunday, I sit down and write about whatever has stayed with me most from the week. Writing helps me process it, and sharing it helps me connect.
